Bring Your Wind Chimes Indoors

The wind is something we often try and avoid. There is a positive to this force of nature and it can actually bring music to your ears. Wind chimes are magical and although for the most part, we find them outside, indoor wind chimes can add something extra special to your home when placed near a door or a window.

These inexpensive works of wind art come in so many different styles and sizes. The traditional indoor wind chimes that many people are still drawn to consist of a round piece of wood atop several cylinders of aluminum. Once the wind gets a hold of the chime, it starts to sway and sing. This type of chime is sophisticated enough that it can even be placed in an office, so when the door opens, the chime sounds.

There are desk versions of these popular items. They aren’t necessarily only for an office though, as they look and sound ideal in a bedroom, or living area too. The difference between these indoor wind chimes and the more traditional ones that are hung up is that in place of the wind, you get to be the driving force behind the chime sounding. A very nice model of this type of wind chime comes with a small cylinder of wood that you gently touch to one of the chimes. Once that chime touches another, you can leave the rest of the work to the device itself. These are actually a perfect gift for anyone who is moving into a new home or office. It’s unique and original enough that you can be almost certain it won’t be thought of by anyone else who comes bearing gifts.

Another popular design that is ideal for a kitchen is crafted from copper. These come in many different shapes and picking just one is typically hard. Not only do these sound lovely when the window is left ajar and the breeze tickles the chimes, but they also look marvelous. It’s amazing to watch a visitor to a home where there is an indoor wind chime by an open window. Their face will instantly light up when they hear the familiar sound of a chime. Although they are likely expecting it to be outside, they are thrilled to see it hanging in a window.

Even if you already have a chime or two out in your garden, consider brining the sound inside. Not only will you get to enjoy the always original tune that the indoor wind chimes produce, but you’ll get to soak in it’s beauty every time you pass by it as well. There’s no mistaking that chimes have a relaxing quality to them, so get ready to close your eyes and get lost in their charm.

Spiral Out Of Control With Celtic Designs

As a descendant of Irish immigrants, I have a soft spot for the cultures of our westerly neighbors. I am particularly attracted to their art and the naturalist elements that are apparent in many designs of the region. I love Celtic jewelry and wear several silver pieces every day. Celtic designs are centered around mostly natural elements, a quality that I love about the designs.

Many Celtic designs are complex and beautiful representations of the world around us. You will often see images of plants and trees in Celtic designs. You can find an endless amount of images of Celtic artistry on the internet. I used the internet to find such images when I was drafting my first tattoo.

I have a tattoo on my back that is a tri-skellion, the Celtic version of the trinity. The Celtic version of the trinity does not relate to the catholic trinity. Celtic designs incorporate the power of three to mirror the natural balance of threes as seen in the life cycles of birth, life, and death. The past, present, and future represent another triplet that is a natural harmony honored in Celtic designs. My tattoo has many elements in it and all of them are aspects drawn from nature. There are a lot of leaves and vines in these designs and I chose the Celtic tree of life to be a part of my tattoo.

Another important characteristic of Celtic designs are spirals. This element is present in almost all Celtic designs and an important part of the art and spirituality of Celts. If you have ever seen the movie Pi, then you are already aware of the implied significance of the spiral. If you have not seen this movie, I highly recommend it as an interesting look at math, mysticism, and the human mind. Check it out. I think I have watched it about a dozen times. I think that I may even own it.

Back to the ranch. If you are a nature lover you will probably enjoy Celtic art and jewelry. If you know a nature lover, Celtic jewelry or art would make a good gift idea. Poesies are short poems that can be found on a lot of Celtic and Irish jewelry and add a special touch to a great gift. Poesy gifts are unique and speak to an innocent romance that I miss in today’s culture. Like the claddagh ring that has been popular in America for decades, poesy jewelry is destined to be a perennial favorite.
