I’ve been in the candy business for a long time. As a matter of fact, you might say that I’ve been in it almost since I was born. You see, my father ran a cotton candy maker machine. It was one of the old cotton candy machines, huge and loud, filled with glowing fibers of delicious sugar. I used to just love watching the cotton candy machine work. It was wonderful to see the spun sugar swirl round and round, enveloping itself around the little paper cones that my dad would use to catch the candy.

Instead of investing in his business, he was content to waste his days away, selling cotton candy to the local boys and girls. I was a little bit more practical. I invested in candy vending machines at first and soon was making a killing. All you have to do is service the machines when they go down and collect the money. That’s it!

Soon, I started to miss cotton candy machines. I had found a way to make a lot of money and that was nice, but I also missed dealing with people. The great thing about a cotton candy machine business is that you get to see the looks on the kids faces when you give them the sweets they crave. I took the old cotton candy machine out of storage and fired it up again. It worked just as well as it always had and soon I was running it on weekends. After awhile, I bought another cotton candy machine and soon I had a concession going.

The trick with a cotton candy machine business is to capitalize on nostalgia. You can do a lot better with an old fashioned carnival cotton candy maker than you can with any slick, modern design. If you dress up in a suit, a funny clown outfit or some other type of novelty costume, you will make even more sales. Basically, as long as it is freshly made, all cotton candy tastes alike. The difference comes with the showmanship. That’s what will make or break your business in the long run.
